This past Thursday on August 21, the boys varsity and junior varsity scrimmaged against each other at the 179 Soccer Complex. Varsity played wearing white but played as gold, junior varsity wore blue and played as blue.
The quarter started at 20:00 minutes, with two totals equaling a 40 minute game and plus a half time. Up until 8 minutes and 45 seconds, no one could score off of each other, until one varsity player made the first goal. By the end of the first half, the score was 1-0, varsity taking the lead.
“Well, I’m excited about the season,” said Mercedes Durham. “I feel like it’s going to be a good year with a strong team!”
After halftime, the game kicked up. Varsity picked up their intensity, scoring four more goals in the twenty minute period they had left. The junior varsity goalie was stopping a majority of the shots taken but could not match up to his opponent. The final score ended with a 5-0 varsity victory.
“Both varsity and J.V. are growing as a team,” Head Coach Chuck Register said. “Right now we are young, so we are working to become better. We have been practicing hard and are ready to take on the year!”
