As students finish watching the presentation of school spirit that is the Helias Homecoming Parade, the students make their way back to the high school’s baseball and softball practice field. At he field stands a mountain of cardboard that is waiting to be burned.
The fire was started by the football captains. The fire was very standard compared with past years. The Bonfire has been a long standing tradition at Helias.
“The fire was very routine,” Senior Noah Rockers said, commenting on the blaze. “This year the fire was lit by the football captains, that was cool.”
“The fire was started by the football captains, but I was hoping for a flaming arrow to start the firefrom Michael Tannehill.” added Mary Kate Hafner, also a senior.
The bonfire was followed by another fire, a fire in the sky. The sky was filled with the lights of fireworks. The students huddled together and watched in unity at the dancing skylights. A night burning with ‘sader’ spirit.
